Green Flash

Well, we finally saw it!  After 50 plus years on the water, Alexis and I saw the Green Flash at sunset yesterday.  Right as the last vestige of the sun went below the horizon, there were two "flashes" of green.  We were not drunk, and there were many people on the beach with us that witnessed the event.  Perfect conditions-no clouds and a clear atmosphere.  Then we drank....
Right before the Flash!

South Seas Resort-Captiva Island, FL

Alexis and I arrived Thursday night in Sarasota for a short Mardi Gras trip. We dined at Deep Six Lounge last night and listened to Rock, the piano player. Today, Friday Feb. 8, we departed for South Seas Resort on Captiva Island with sunny and warm weather.

South Seas is a great resort. The marina is next to the Harborside Restaurant.

Last night (Friday) I had fresh red grouper, tomato soup and apple crisp. Tonight, tripletail, and key lime pie! The weather was great today, and we walked the beach, took a dingy ride to town, and did some bird watching. This place has several pools and an eco-school for kids. There are many families here, and it is kid friendly. This morning, several manatees were under the boat and the kids loved watching them. Alexis took the trolley to the resort spa for some work. This would be a great spot for the grand kids!
