We are almost to the Oswego Canal, and then Lake
Ontario. We went through another 182
locks today (an exaggeration!) in the rain.
The weather people are confused by a front and the wind predictions for
crossing to Canada vary by the hour. Maybe
Thursday or Friday, unless the front stalls, then Sunday? Who knows!
We will go to Oswego, NY tomorrow which is on Lake Ontario, and hang out
until the weather allows us to make the 50 plus mile dash to Canada across the
lake. We are docked in Brewerton, NY now,
waiting for the front. All is well.

Locking in the rain. The small outboard behind us is also on the Loop, and loaded to the gills with bikes, gas cans, water jugs, etc. |
|
We are now locking down (as opposed to up) having crossed the water divide on the Erie. |
|
The downstairs station came in handy today. This is Oneida Lake, the only open water on the Erie Canal. It had about a 3-4 foot chop with rain today. |
|
The cause for weather confusion. Lake Ontario is just above the boat symbol. Oswego, NY in on the southeast shore and Kingston, Quebec is on the northeast shore on the St Lawrence River. |
That's a snazzy red jacket--I'm glad to see you're stylish for a swamp person.
