There are still 9’ seas in the Gulf Stream, so we are
waiting till Friday to cross. The refined prediction by the good folks at the National Weather Service, is for 2-4’ seas Friday with an occasional 5 footer. One
of the great ocean currents in the world, the Gulf Stream flows north and
controls the climate of the U.S. East Coast, tempers the subarctic waters of
Iceland and affects England’s Scilly Isles. The Gulf Stream flows about three
to six knots, and is described as a river in the ocean. It flows north, so any wind from the north,
creates large seas. The wind is clocking
back to the SE now, so the seas should subside today and tonight.
The last two days have
been windy and rainy, so we drowned our sorrow in food. Monty’s is a bar/restaurant here at the
marina, with a happing afternoon crowd.
We ate there Wednesday night and then went to a movie. Last night we dined at La Gloutonneire, a French
restaurant within walking distance of the marina (there must be at least 500 restaurants
within walking distance!). It was
great. We will fast today for our short
hop to Bimini tomorrow….

I really think this is it, so I have filed our float plan with US Customs, and we will get underway around 8:00 tomorrow. After checking in with Bahamian Customs, we will try to post, but WiFi will be spotty. We will post as we can.
Bon Voyage-keep us posted.
