Thanks to a very gracious friend, we flew from home back to GTC by private aircraft. We left Houma at 9:30, and were on the boat by 1:30pm. We are forever spoiled!
We were treated to a nice sunset.
Ferry ride back to GTC.
We are adjusting to all that has occurred the past week, and again realize that life is fickle. Enjoy it while you can.
Tomorrow we head to Man O War Cay, which still has no marina after Hurricane Dorian. It has always been a favorite stop, and we are hopeful that it has come back somewhat from that devastating hurricane, during which it and Marsh Harbour bore the brunt. After that we head to Elbow Cay and Hopetown, which has recovered nicely. Seaspray Marina was totally destroyed, but has been rebuilt, and we have reservations there Monday. Stay tuned for pics from those two stops.
First we must traverse the infamous "Whale". To get to Man O War, we have to leave the protected Sea of Abaco, and briefly go into the Atlantic to bypass Whale Cay. The entrance and exit from the Whale passage is shallow, and a "rage" can build if the seas are rough, causing potentially capsizing seas. Usually one can obtain current conditions by hailing other boats on VHF channel 16. Today was the first passable day in a week, and tomorrow looks good. Hold on!
Today I did some snorkeling on the reef in front of GTC. It was a wild dinghy ride to the reef, but fairly calm when we got there, as the reef comes to the surface, providing a calm area to anchor. Alexis joined me, but has her own story about our ride..... I will post some underwater pics next.
